Poesia della settimana 17-2007

Fiori

C'è un'altra pelle all'interno della mia pelle
che riunisce al vostro tocco, un lago alla luce;
che slaccia la relativa memoria, la relativa lingua persa
nella vostra piccola lingua,
cancellandomi nella novità.

Nel momento stesso in cui il corpo pensa sa
conoscere i sensi,
questa seconda pelle continua a rispondergli.

Nella via - sedie del caffé abbandonate
sui terrazzi; bancarelle del mercato svuotate
della loro solida luce,
benché il selciato ancora respiri
uva e pesche dell'estate.
Come la luce di qualche cosa che si sviluppi
da questa terra nuovamente capovolta,
ogni parte di me si riunisce sotto il vostro tocco,
avvolga lo spostamento del mio vestito intorno ai nostri piccoli piedi,
la vostra camicia che torce fiori nei miei pugni.

Flowers

There's another skin inside my skin
that gathers to your touch, a lake to the light;
that looses its memory, its lost language
into your tongue,
erasing me into newness.

Just when the body thinks it knows
the ways of knowing itself,
this second skin continues to answer.

In the street - café chairs abandoned
on terraces; market stalls emptied
of their solid light,
though pavement still breathes
summer grapes and peaches.
Like the light of anything that grows
from this newly-turned earth,
every tip of me gathers under your touch,
wind wrapping my dress around our legs,
your shirt twisting to flowers in my fists.

L'AUTRICE

Anne Michaels (Toronto, 1958), considerata fra i più originali talenti della narrativa di lingua inglese, si è affermata come autrice di poesia.

Il romanzo In fuga le ha meritato alcuni dei più importanti premi letterari anglosassoni del 1996-97, fra cui l'Orange Prize for Fiction, il Trillium Award e il Guardian Prize.

Anne Michaels vive a Toronto e insegna letteratura.
